We got married at Matara in May and we are so happy that we chose this amazing venue! It was an easy decision to book Matara because as soon as we visited it last year, we both knew straight away that this was where we wanted to get married.

Abbie was our wedding coordinator and she was brilliant throughout - we had a couple of planning meetings with her in the runup to the day, and she was also always so responsive when we had any questions or requests. She has so much experience of how to make the day run smoothly and it felt like nothing was too much trouble. On the weekend itself, she did such an amazing job of taking any stresses away from us, setting things up beautifully and handling everything behind the scenes.

We had our ceremony in the cloistered courtyard which is so unique and peaceful. It gives you the feeling of having an outdoor ceremony whilst at the same time putting our minds at ease that we and our guests would be under cover in case of rain (although we were very lucky in the end that it was beautiful sunshine all day!)

We also booked Kingscote House for the weekend which I would highly recommend if you can, it was a lovely way for the family and close friends to gather together and relax the evening before the wedding - also it is a perfect location for getting ready, with many different rooms and beautiful natural light. There is even a hot tub in the garden! My husband and I also stayed in the honeymoon lodge on the night of our wedding, which is a beautiful secluded cottage that feels like a little haven in the middle of the grounds.

Matara is a very beautiful place, with many wonderful areas throughout the grounds that you could spend hours exploring - giving lots of options for places to have your ceremony, drinks reception, photos etc - you can really make the day your own.

We also wanted to emphasise how delicious the food is at Matara - Luke the chef is very talented and many of our guests were commenting on how this was the best food they've had at a wedding! We had a food tasting with him beforehand and he was really helpful in answering questions and providing suggestions. He was very flexible with catering for various different dietary requirements of the guests which was a great help.
He also cooked a delicious informal meal for our guests at Kingscote House the night before which was the perfect way to bring everyone together before the big day!

Another of our favourite parts of the day was having the opportunity to dedicate a tree in the grounds - we brought our guests along and made it part of the day, which everyone loved. We can't wait to go back and visit our tree in the future!

If you are currently thinking about wedding venues then I couldn't recommend Matara enough - go and have a look around and you will fall in love with it!

I can’t really put into words, how wonderful Matara is! It has an extremely special vibe of joy, happiness and peace. We had the most wonderful wedding there and all of our guests loved it.

Literally the most amazing, incredible, perfect venue. All you have to do is visit and you'll know you will be getting married there! Everything about Matara is magical.

We had our wedding here August 2022. Not only is the venue stunning, but the staff are incredible and enabled us to completely relax and enjoy our day knowing that everything was taken care of. They are flexible with packages so we could adapt things to suit our budget and make the day our own. It's such a unique venue with a wonderful story, we knew it was right for us straight away. We can't wait to return and visit our tree!

We haven't had our wedding at Matara Centre yet, however we were booked for October 2020. With all the uncertainty surrounding weddings due to COVID-19 we rescheduled for October 2021. We were lucky to find a venue that was kind enough to let us reschedule far in advance, this has taken a load off our mind. It is quite rare to find a venue that is so accommodating and we are thankful to Holly and her team at Matara. We now look forward to our wedding in 2021 :)

We were due to get married at Matara in May this year but sadly the C-thing struck. I have to say that Matara and our planner, Holly, were absolutely fantastic in supporting us to make the right decision at the right time about postponing and supported us all the way through this process. I can't tell you how much anxiety was reduced by the support we got from Holly and Matara. We wanted to make sure we could celebrate our day in the way we wanted at such a beautiful location like Matara and, wtih Holly's support, everything has now been arranged for us to do just that this time next year. Matara doesn't often feature in the glossy bridal mags which is an absolute travesty as you don't know how much of a gem this place is. I urge you to visit and see for yourself! We got married here over the weekend and the venue is absolutely stunning! Everyone spoke about how unique.

However, the communication from the venue wasn’t great and they changed some of the venue layout the week before our wedding without telling us so when I arrived to set up the day before the wedding we realised we could no longer have the pictures we wanted and had to call our photographer less than 24 hours before and try and scout a new area with lighting. They kindly said we could use the big house and there are some lovely settings for big pictures in there. However, when we went to go in after the ceremony someone had locked the house up so we couldn’t access it leaving all our guests standing in the rain whilst we located a member of the team or found a way in.

The evening members of the team were lovely but the handover didn’t go very smoothly so we ended up having a lot of food put out that shouldn’t have been done so and cost us a considerable amount of extra money we weren’t expecting. Chairs were also put in front of our cake so the evening guests missed it and didn’t have any as people were sat in front of it!

The chef on the day was amazing and the food was perfect for the main meal and the canapés. His kitchen is so clean you could eat off the floor!!!

The accommodation is fantastic but a little over priced for what you get. The breakfast was served at the pub but was very poor (hard cooked poached eggs and over an hour to be served!)

So yes, an amazing unique venue, but they have some hiccups they needed to sort out.

It was such so special to have the weekend in the house too, with the family -John's uncles hadn't been reunited in 10 years! Special mention to Luke, who not only made an incredible wedding breakfast & canapes (were still getting comments about the duck rolls!) but also made a delicious Friday dinner (best lasagne ever!)
Your whole team on Saturday were great, and attention to detail - when removing the table decor, they re-arranged it for the night.
All in all, Thank you for all the love and joy you put into Matara - we had the perfect day and will treasure the memories always.

What can we say. From the moment we even looked at the website to setting foot at Matara for the first time. We were blown away. The only venue that asked us what we wanted rather than tell us what to do! Holly and Olivia were amazing throughout And Jean with the evening shift!! An exquisite venue for our special day in November. I could walk around for days in awe of its beauty. Our guests were blown away with Matara and the food.....
Luke is a master in the kitchen! We are foodies and from day one he worked with us to get the menu to what we had dreamed of. Our dreams came true. The canapés and wedding breakfast were outstanding. Our guests said it’s the best food they have ever had at a wedding!

We were married at Matara on the 16th November and had the most wonderful day - the colours of the Acers, the twinkling lights, the water trickling in the background made for the most beautiful setting for our vows.

The Matara Centre was the only venue that we viewed after searching for unique wedding venues online, we wanted somewhere a bit different and this venue was perfect for us and luckily only 20 minutes from where we live! It is so pretty and gives you the opportunity to get married outside all year round! We got married 8th November 2019 and it was the best day ever! We had so much fun, there was no stress, everything went perfectly thanks to the matara centre staff who were very friendly and helpful throughout the whole planning process and on the day itself! We also had a firework display which was a great suprise for our guests and perfect for a winter wedding. We also got a tree didicated to us which is a lovely gesture and we will be able to go back and visit our tree in the future and relive all the great memories! We would definitely recommend!!

We would like to thank Geoffrey and all of the Matara team for providing a brilliant venue for Mark and Maddie’s wedding on Saturday. Abbie was excellent before and on the day, finding first aid and keeping us all on track!

Myself and my husband married at Matara in October 2019 but we first fell in love with Matara back in June 2018 and from our very first visit, we were incredibly excited to have our wedding there - and it didn't disappoint!

Amidst the stress of planning a wedding, the Matara Centre was the ideal space of zen and tranquility that stayed with us throughout our special day.

What we loved so much about Matara was how incredibly unique it was, unlike any other venue we had ever visited. Throughout the planning, Geoffrey and his team were always so welcoming and attentive and Rebecca in particular on our special day was a huge help!

We married at the St John the Baptist church just along the wooded path from Matara and even in the pouring English rain, it was a magical landscape.

We stayed with friends and family for the whole weekend, occupying the house and zen rooms which took away any stress of logistics as everyone was already together in one place, and meant that the celebrations could begin even before the wedding did. The house in particular we all fell in love with and hope to return for celebrations one day again!

Everything from the food (the white chocolate mousse is heavenly!), the fairy lights, the fire pit in courtyard, the asian inspired walkways and colourful decorations meant our guests were truly relaxed and could enjoy a really magical day with us!

I wish we could get married at Matara again and again!

From the moment we walked into Matara, it was clear that this was a special place. We decided to take the whole venue for our wedding weekend, surrounded by our family and close friends in the beautiful house, the pretty honeymoon cottage for our wedding night offering welcome privacy, and last but by no means least the venue itself which easily accommodated 150+ guests in a variety of different areas, rooms, garden, courtyards etc. The staff we the essence of cheerful helpfulness during planning and they all excelled themselves at the event. From seemingly endless canapes, to perfect timing, and efficiency which made the whole day run smoothly. We enjoyed a fairytale wedding celebration in October 2019.

Our wedding was at the Matara Centre in August 2019. It is a wonderful venue, full of character and different areas to explore. The outdoor area is amazing and we filled it with games for our guests. The staff were so helpful, Holly was able to accommodate everything we wanted into the day and even stayed longer than needed to help with the smooth running of the wedding. The food was delicious and gained compliments from all the guests. Overall a brilliant venue, and we had a wedding that we loved.
