Mulberry House is a family-owned and operated wedding venue located in High Ongar, England. This Essex estate is nestled on 22 acres of rolling fields, wishing wells, and lakes that create a breathtaking backdrop. The historic house has been subtly converted into a boutique hotel while retaining its origional charm and details. Featuring stunning Georgian architecture mixed with 21st-century additions, this venue is a luxurious and unique setting to hold weddings all year through.
Facilities and Capacity
Mulberry House is licensed for civil ceremonies of up to 130 people. The venue has two beautiful wedding reception spaces, both of which come equipped with working bars and can seat between 50 and 140 guests. The Mulberry Suite is furnished with two exquisite chandeliers and exposed beams, while the Marquee is draped with white cloth and fairy lights. Before dining and dancing, drinks receptions can be held on the terrace overlooks the grounds and lake. After the festivities, you and your loved ones can retire to the hotel's 23 overnight accommodations. These comfortable and tastefully-designed en-suite bedrooms will allow you to relax and unwind after a fun-filled day with all your friends and family.
Services Offered
Mulberry House only hosts one wedding per day, meaning that no other couple is married here on the same day. For your big day, you will have a dedicated Wedding Co-Ordinator, Function Manager, and waiting staff at your disposal to ensure everything goes seamlessly.
Award Winning
On Thursday 17th November the team headed to the Essex Wedding Awards where we scooped not one, but two awards! Hotel Wedding Venue of the Year 2023 and also Historic Wedding Venue of the Year 2023. Coming towards the end of a very busy year in which we have worked tirelessly to deliver outstanding weddings to all of our couples, we are now finally on the way to the recognition we feel we deserve. The Wedding Industry Awards were hosted in 2023 where we were awarded Best Hotel Wedding Venue 2023, countrywide!!!
We got married here, we renewed our vows here and we had our christening party here. The team go above and beyond and we have been thrilled with everything. Thank you!

excellent all round
the perfect day in the perfect venue.
the whole mulberry team were brilliant from start to finish, professional all the way and super helpful and friendly. we felt so welcomed and that nothing was an issue on the day. this was from the wedding team to the bar staff and banquet team. they really went the extra mile on everything and couldn't fault them.
every single guest commented on how beautiful the venue was, the grounds were beautiful and spacious, the house and suite stunning on arrival and the marquee perfect space for all our guests with plenty of space for the evening party when other guests arrived.
big thank you to the whole team for making our long awaited day so special, we'll be back for an afternoon tea to say hello and see you.

Our wonderful wedding
Big mention to Claire and her team who worked soooo hard to make our special day everything we dreamed of and more. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The whole team at Mulberry House are fab and the venue just stunning, even in the rain! Ty for making the organisation and the running of our special day soooo smooth. Magical wedding day
I cannot recommend highly enough the service my daughter and son in law received for their wedding. Claire and Jo were absolutely incredible. Every detail delivered to perfection and everyone so well looked after so attentive to our every need. We were made to feel so special. Every member of staff including the cleaners were so friendly and even the night receptionist drove some guests to nearby hotels as they could not get taxi’s.

The perfect wedding
From start to finish our wedding day was perfect.
Claire and Jo make the best team, they made sure we were happy with both the big things and the smaller details on the day.
We both know that the day would not have been the same without them or at a different venue.
We had smiles on our faces all day long and so did our guests.
Many of our guests complimented both the venue and the team and loved the day.
We have the most incredible memories and to top it off the team sent over lots of behind the scenes photos and videos to watch over which has been amazing.
We could go on and on but in short everything about our wedding at Mulberry house was perfect, we would give 100 stars if we could!

Amazing process planning our wedding!
We had an amazing time on our wedding day at mulberry house. The staff were friendly polite and professional and I can’t recommend Claire enough- she was so relaxed on the day that as the bride I felt so chilled out and just able to enjoy the day without worrying about anything. Mulberry house also recommend some amazing suppliers so you can personalise your wedding- we had an ice cream cart at our drinks reception which we booked from their wedding fair and it made the whole planning process so easy! I also had a guest change their dietary needs at 5pm the day before the wedding and mulberry house just accommodated it without a backward glance. The chef was incredible and so flexible, helping us to make our ideas come together seamlesssly! If you want an easy and super fuss free planning process, you should definitely consider mulberry house as your wedding venue- they are literally pros and take away any stress or worries from the planning experience. Our beautiful wedding 21/7/23
Richard and Tracie recently married at the beautiful Mulberry House. We chose this venue as it had everything we wanted, lovely grounds nice decor, lovely accommodation and most importantly great food. Finally Our wedding day came and from arrival to departure everyone of the staff at Mulberry House surpassed our expectations, they were all excellent. We had the most Amazing day without any hitches or stresses, we are so grateful to everyone who played their part to bring everything together so wonderfully. Our special thanks go to Claire, Jo, Chloe, Amie, Dave and all of the great team for truly making our day so enjoyable and memorable we really recommend this wonderful venue.

Amazing experience from start to finish! ⭐️
We had the most unreal wedding day at Mulberry House back in July. From the moment we first visited the venue we knew it was the one, it blew all of the other wedding venues we had visited prior out of the water.
Mulberry House have gotten everything just right. From the food which is delicious, staff who are super friendly and attentive, to the grounds which are just stunning.
From the lead up to the wedding everything was so organised and all of our questions were answered promptly which made the whole planning process so smooth and stress free. Chloe in particular was very efficient and prompt in responding to my emails and was super helpful!
Jo and Claire on the day were just amazing, they went above and beyond and ensured we had the most special day, we even got our dream of having an outdoor ceremony despite there being rain on the day and risk of thunderstorms!
We have had so many compliments from our guests about how amazing the venue was. We cannot thank you enough. Will be returning back time and time again! ❤️

Perfection!
The memories I have of this wonderful place and the most passionate, professional and all round amazing people are the best of my life! They will stay with me forever. Not one thing could have been better. Most brides and grooms do miss certain parts of their wedding because of the chaos of the day. We saw and experienced everything. The attention to detail was insane. Never experienced a wedding like it (and I know I am bias but my guests all said the same too!) Worth every penny and more! Thank you all!

Amazing amazing amazing
Where do I start with Mulberry House. We had our wedding here beginning of July 23 and we had the most perfect day. The staff are so friendly and attentive, the food was AMAZING, we had so many comments from guests about the food, and the grounds are just unbelievable. Mulberry House were amazing from the first day we had a viewing, through to open days, backwards and forwards emails with endless questions about how the day would run, mulberry house made us feel very calm and explained everything. We couldn’t have wished for a better venue and can’t wait to come back in future.

Our wedding 1/7/23
I have to say when choosing the venue we visited many sites and nothing came close to Mulberry House. The grounds are epic, the place is beautiful and the food was fantastic. A special mention to Claire who went above and beyond for our day which massively put us both at ease. No job was too much and we won’t hesitate in going back for afternoon tea. If your getting married do it here! Simply the best day of our lives and Mulberry house played a massive part in this. Thanks :)

Amazing venue and amazing staff!
We are so pleased we picked Mulberry House as our wedding venue. From when we booked it, they were so helpful answering all our questions and giving us advice where asked, they helped us wherever they could all the way up to the big day. We had a final meeting a few months before the wedding to go over some of the final details where they prompted us for some of the things we may have forgotten about and went over a lot of the details which reassured us we were in great hands! On the big day they did their upmost to make sure we were cared for and that everything went smoothly. They asked us to check the marquee before the wedding breakfast and after the evening turnaround to make sure we were happy with how it all looked. They really made us feel like royalty on the day and they were all so happy to help us! They also packed away what was left of our cake and decorations safely for us to take home the next day. They honestly couldn’t have done anything better, we would 100% recommend them!

Beautiful and picturesque venue
I was very pleased my son and daughter in law chose this venue for their wedding, as they stated that it offered many facilities for their budget.The wedding was run with absolute professionalism, with thanks to all the staff especially Clare, Jo and David. Everyone worked so hard to make sure all our guest had a great time.
The food was exceptional from the canapés, right through to the buffet breakfast the following morning.
The room we stayed in was clean spacious and very comfortable.
Many of our guest complemented the day and the beautiful grounds surrounding the hotel.
