Pauntley Court is an intimate country house venue in Newent, Gloucestershire, available to host weddings and other occasions. As a private and much-loved family home, this house boasts a uniquely warm and charming atmosphere. Bursting with understated elegance, the house and gardens are full of character, giving you and your loved ones a unique backdrop for your wedding photographs.
Facilities and Capacity
Nestled among trees with only a Norman Church and The Dovecote as neighbours, Pauntley Court is in rural Gloucestershire, on the edge of the Worcestershire and Herefordshire borders. The main house is surrounded by magical gardens and features spectacular views across the rolling countryside. A truly romantic and one-of-a-kind wedding venue, this space can accommodate smaller weddings and extravagant marquee soirees. Couples thinking of a church wedding can attend the Norman Church, only a stone's throw from the garden. The venue also welcomes civil weddings inside, holding licenses in two rooms within the main house. Couples can marry in the ballroom, accommodating up to 40 people, or the paneled room, seating up to 20 guests. Nearlyweds can also opt for a stretch tent on the flat lawns for an outdoor ceremony before coming indoors for the legal part of the service. Inside the house, an intimate wedding breakfast for 32 guests can be held in the elegant ballroom, and afterwards, host a drinks reception in the atmospheric panelled room. Enjoy drinks and canapes amongst the quince trees, followed by outdoor dining under the stretch tent or the hornbeam arches.
Services Offered
As a family-run venue and only having a limited number of weddings per year, this team works closely with you to help you create your perfect day. The group understands that no two weddings are the same, offering a flexible approach when designing a bespoke and memorable celebration. Depending on your guest list size, the venue offers packages ranging from micro wedding bundles to extensive wedding options of up to 100 guests. On arriving here, Melissa provides you with a personal tour of the property, talking you through the endless possibilities. The wedding coordinator then meets with you to help you choose your suppliers from the venue's carefully selected list of local and talented suppliers. The property can be hired exclusively for three days and two nights, making it your idyllic home for the wedding of your dreams.
Accommodation
Pauntley Court can accommodate up to 24 family and friends across 10 beautiful and individually designed bedrooms with 9 modern bathrooms. The bedrooms have sumptuous white company linens, fluffy towels and slippers, luxurious toiletries, and fresh flowers from the gardens, spoiling you for the wedding weekend.
We couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to get married than Pauntley Court. The first time we went we both instantly knew it was the right place for us, it has a special feel about it as soon as you arrive. The house is amazing, decorated beautifully throughout with so many nice touches. The gardens are incredible, and we loved that there are so many different areas to use within it over the weekend. We loved having the venue for the whole weekend as it meant we were able to celebrate with friends and family on Friday and Sunday too which made the weekend even more exciting.
We really wanted our wedding to be as personalised to us as possible, and we were able to achieve this so easily - choosing our catering company/bar company/where we wanted different aspects of the day to take place etc. This all meant that our wedding had a bespoke feel to it and we loved how our day was different to all others before.
We were lucky enough to have amazing weather on our wedding day and had our ceremony outside on the ceremony lawn. It truly felt like we were at a destination wedding due to it being such a beautiful venue and location - so many guests said they felt like they had been transported to Italy or France! Melissa the owner is so lovely and always happy to help. Rachel the housekeeper is an amazing asset to the team and definitely saved the day at one point! We had Holly as our wedding coordinator and she was absolutely incredible, she made me feel so calm and comfortable on the day knowing it would all run smoothly in her safe hands. We honestly couldn't recommend getting married at Pauntley enough - thank you so so much!

April Wedding at Pauntley
Gareth and I got married at Pauntley in April 2023, we loved the house when we had visited the year before and knew we wanted a small low key wedding with just our closest friends and family and loved that they could all stay with us for the two nights, on the day everything ran smoothly meaning we could just concentrate on each other and our guests and appreciating being together. We were so lucky to have some sunny weather on the Saturday, but it really didn't matter when it rained, there are so many beautiful spaces in the house and outside under the stretch tent. We are so grateful to Melissa and Jilly for their support and help with everything and hope we can visit again in future.

Please can we do it again?
Still absolutely floating on cloud nine after our wedding at Pauntley in May. I can't express how perfect the day, and the whole weekend, was! We had the most wonderful day filled with love, joy and laughter. Pauntley Court was a huge part of this. It's just the most beautiful location and we will think so fondly of it forever!
We've had so many comments from all our guests about how fabulous the venue was! I've even had a few people passing the venue onto their friends to consider for their weddings, which I would 100% recommend. I can't believe how well our flowers went with the house and gardens, the bright colours were exactly how I wanted, and beyond!
Melissa and Parky are so warm, welcoming and lovely. It was a pleasure organising the day with you in the lead up to the wedding day.
Thank you ever so much for everything! It truly was the best day of our lives, I'm not sure my words are sufficient to explain this!
Holly, who coordinatated the day was so amazing! She was on top of everything, just as I thought of something she had already done it! Just the perfect person to help run your day absolutely flawlessly and a lovely person to top it off! Can't thank her enough.
Rachel's, the housekeeper was invaluable, she helped so much with the house and meant we could focus all our time on the day and spending time with friends and family, knowing she was there was such a big bonus. The breakfast Sunday morning was great!
All in all the most wonderful day, I would love to do it all over again!

Early May at Pauntley Court
When we were planning our wedding we chose to have an intimate celebration (28 people) and as soon as we found Pauntley Court we knew it was the only place we would want to get married.
On our venue visit we fell in love with the charming building exterior, the immaculate gardens and the opulent, yet comfortable interior. Pauntely Court comprises the perfect mixture of history, character and modern features.
The 3 day stay, accompanied with the buildings terracotta walls, extensive gardens and the early May sunshine set deep in the English countryside gave our guests the feel of a European destination wedding without the hassle and expense of travelling.
The exclusivity of the house worked perfectly for our wedding party and all our needs were more than accommodated for. The entirety of the home was kept immaculate for the duration of our stay through the support of Rachel the housekeeper, she worked unobtrusively to ensure that all our needs were met. This was also mirrored in the hosts; Melissa and Mark, and our assigned wedding co-ordinator Rebecca. They worked efficiently to ensure that the day ran perfectly and was everything we’d hoped for.
We can’t thank the team at Pauntley Court enough and feel so lucky that we were fortunate to host our wedding in such an extraordinary piece of history. There really is nowhere else quite like it; it’s a truly magical venue that was enjoyed by our whole wedding party.

Perfect wedding venue- book now!
We booked Pauntley Court for our intimate wedding weekend in June 2022 and we regret nothing! The venue is beyond beautiful with lovely, well kept gardens. The rooms are also very impressive, all individually decorated with their own character. All our guests commented throughout the wedding and since returning home about how lovely the venue was. Unfortunately, we weren't able to have our wedding outside as planned, thanks to the great British weather, but the team at Pauntley were so responsive, attentive and caring about swapping round our decorations to move us inside. We want to make a special mention to Rachel, who helped us throughout the weekend to keep the house clean and tidy and also cooked us an amazing breakfast on the Sunday morning. Also a big thank you to Rebecca and Melissa who were also fantastic, ensuring our day was perfect throughout. If you want a unique wedding venue, that no one will forget, book Pauntley court!

Beautiful venue
We couldn't have asked for a better venue for our wedding than Pauntley, a perfect mix of something special while still being able to create the more relaxed atmosphere we were looking for. The house itself is lovely, but it was the grounds that made it for us, giving the perfect setting for our outdoor wedding between the quince trees. The Pauntley team were also brilliant, right from meeting Melissa at the start, through Holly making sure everything ran so smoothly on the day, keeping us completely worry free on logistics, to Rachel who provides perfect support for all those around the day, making it an even more relaxed and enjoyable experience. It was a perfect few days and a time we'll always remember, we couldn't recommend Pauntley highly enough.

Dream Wedding venue
Pauntley Court was the perfect venue for our wedding celebration, our party of 20 guests all commented on how beautiful the house and grounds were, making it the ideal getaway for our intimate wedding weekend. We couldn’t have found a more ideal venue!
From booking at short notice, Melissa & Jilly our wedding coordinator, helped us source local suppliers to cover every eventuality; Enabling us to arrange everything in under 8 weeks, from our Friday evening catering to our final farewell lunch on Sunday afternoon. A memorable weekend was created that we will remember forever.
An additional thank you to Rachel, who made our weekend much more relaxed. Rachel looked after the small details and catered for our guests. Not sure what we would have done without her…. & she made it look so easy!

Memorable, unique wedding day
Upon visiting Pauntley for the first time, after discovering the venue at a small weddings fair, we were sold instantly. Both the house and gardens are stunning and immaculate, and Melissa and her team are quite simply amazing. On the lead up to the big day, there was always someone on hand to answer questions or guide us through ideas including lists of suppliers or what had worked for couples already married at Pauntley. And, on the day itself, Melissa, Jilly and Rachel made everything happen seamlessly.
The venue itself had so many options; on where to hold the marriage ceremony, the wedding breakfast and the all-important after party! We decided to get married down by the lake, our guests sat on hay bales. Even the resident pair of swans stuck around for the entire ceremony, making it a picture-perfect, fairy-tale.
Pauntley is such a unique setting. It felt like our home for the few days we were there and will always hold a special place in our hearts. We sincerely hope to come back in the future, to walk the grounds, or stay in the Dovecote or Elinor Fettiplace suite, to enable us to relive what was a truly magical wedding.

Our beautiful wedding - 30/07/22
From the moment we found Pauntley Court online, we just knew we was meant to get married there! As soon as I enquired with Melissa, who was so helpful and friendly, I couldn’t wait to see Pauntley in person and just as I thought, when we did we fell in love.
It’s historical charm and beauty blew us away from the very first moment, and so the wedding plans commenced!
Throughout our 2 years of planning, nothing was ever too much trouble and we felt so welcome and supported throughout our planning journey. Melissa and Hollys help was invaluable and we couldn’t have planned such a wonderful weekend without them. Thank you so much for your kind support, we will forever be grateful.
The weekend of our wedding couldn’t have been better. Pauntley’s house, rooms and gardens were immaculate and Rachel the housekeeper was on hand to make sure everything was clean, tidy and organised. Through from Thursday to Sunday, we was made to feel so welcome and it was as though Pauntley was our own home throughout; it was just perfect.
On the day of our wedding, Holly led the way exceptionally and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our day just perfect. You helped transform the venue, you made sure all our special moments took place, you helped me into my dress and shoes and was there with a smile to calm us down when we felt overwhelmed and needed you. Everyone needs a Holly at their wedding and I’m so grateful we found you!
We will forever cherish the memories of our wedding weekend and we can’t wait to come back in the future to reminisce the wonderful time we shared with our closest family and friends. It has truly been a pleasure and the greatest time of our lives.

Sensational!
From the moment we arrived at Pauntley we totally fell in love with it. It is so unique and like nothing else we had looked at. Melissa is so lovely and was really helpful throughout our planning - it always felt so personal. She goes above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly. It was also great to have Holly's help, particularly on the day for any last minute jobs that needed sorting before or during the afternoon.
We arrived on the Thursday night with our parents and had the main house from Friday lunchtime for the weekend. This worked really well for us as it meant we had lots of time to decorate the marquee and sort the final details before the big day so the build up was stress free and meant we could enjoy it! We honestly had the most amazing weekend and everyone said how magical Pauntley was. The house and its surroundings are simply beautiful and it is the perfect setting for a wedding.
A huge thank you to Melissa and her family for welcoming us into their home and sharing their little slice of heaven - it will forever hold a special place in our hearts and we can't wait to visit again.
